Let’s just put it out there: DC is HOT in the summertime. But magical, too, especially in the evening, when the air gets heavy and everything feels like it’s moving in slow motion. The light glistens off of the reflecting pool and one feels forced to take stock of the history and importance of what the city represents.
With all due respect to Bryce Harper, our highlight was the MLK memorial: the scale and weight of its commanding presence, the power of the words engraved everywhere, and the opportunities for discussion with our little ones. We were also amazed by the Newseum, the first museum in recent memory that had my boys asking, do we really have to leave?
This weekend was a wonderful whirlwind of sweet Georgetown cupcakes, sweltering baseball innings, inspiring national monuments and really rad museums. Plans for our return trip: in motion.
